TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark – Unique landscape right in front of our hotel
Discover the diversity of the TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark, which begins right outside our hotel. Over 100 natural monuments and geological features, vast forests, moors, heathlands, and impressive viewpoints characterize this extraordinary landscape. As the first German nature park to be designated a UNESCO Global Geopark, TERRA.vita offers fascinating insights into the geological and cultural history of the region.
The nature park covers around 1,550 km² between the northern Teutoburg Forest, the Wiehengebirge mountains, and the Ankumer Höhen hills. Since its foundation in 1962, it has impressively conveyed the “fascination of geological history” – from ice age terminal moraines and boulder fields to quarries, clay pits, and archaeological relics. Hardly any other place brings the development of our Earth over a period of up to 300 million years to life so vividly.

The TERRA.vita nature and geopark offers ideal conditions for active recreation. Numerous hiking and cycling trails lead through varied landscapes and invite you to explore the region on foot or by bike. Along the way, you will encounter nature trails, sights, and viewpoints that invite you to take a break in the midst of nature.
Hiking enthusiasts will find excellently signposted circular trails on the 81 TERRA.tracks in the Osnabrück region. These lead through forests, along narrow paths, past moors, springs, and heathland, and always offer good orientation. For cyclists, there are 18 TERRA.trails available as themed circular tours, on which you can discover the geological history of the nature park by bike or e-bike. In addition, a network of trails over 4,000 km long allows you to plan your own individual bike tours. Excursions, guided tours, and adventure activities complement the wide range of activities on offer around our hotel.
