Hiking and cycling around Ankum
Ankum is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists. Around 19 varied hiking tours are available for walks, half-day or full-day trips. A particular highlight is the Hünenwanderweg trail, which leads over the gently rolling Ankum hills, runs along quiet moorland areas and unspoiled river meadows, and is lined with impressive megalithic tombs – the oldest known burial sites in northern Germany and Scandinavia.
Depending on the route, you can enjoy sweeping views over the foothills of the Artland or explore the hills of the Wiehengebirge. Numerous circular trails also invite you to discover the region at your own pace. Hiking maps and personal tour tips are available at our reception. On request, we will be happy to put together a picnic basket or packed lunch for you.
Cyclists can choose from 34 signposted cycle routes. We particularly recommend the Artland cycle tour, which takes you through a varied cultural landscape with traditional farms, wide fields, and well-kept farmsteads. Along the way, farm cafés invite you to take a break and enjoy some refreshments. We will be happy to provide you with information about bicycle and e-bike rental options in the area. After your tour, enjoy a relaxing overnight stay with us.
